In the fifties and sixities, royalty and Hollywood movie stars such as Robert Mitchum and Rita Hayworth came to enjoy Blue Haven. The hotel's 55 ocean view rooms and suites have been completely refurbished, in a modern contemporary style but retaining the elegance and grandeur of an earlier era.
Now guests can enjoy the tradition of the old days complemented with modern facilities. On entering the grounds to the hotel reception, you pass 100 year old palms and old canons which surround the ancient walls and picturesque colonial style verandahs and terraces overlooking the ocean.
The resort's gourmet restaurant, Shutters on the Bay, has a fine reputation, and snacks and barbeque lunches are served from ‘No Problem Beach Bar’ situated on the beach on which, according to legend, Robinson Crusoe was washed ashore on 30 September 1659.
The 55 stylish rooms and suites offer ocean views from a private balcony or patio, air-conditioning, ceiling fan and custom-made mahogany beds plus a unique open glass bathroom. Superior Ocean View Rooms are located in the renovated old building, whilst the Deluxe Ocean View Rooms in the pavilion are more spacious and suitable for families. Due to steep steps and the hillside location, we do not recommend this hotel for those with walking difficulties.
